CARIS’ longest-standing European client, The Royal Netherlands Navy, was the first to experience the training facilities at CARIS EMEA’s new location, which includes the use of smart board technology. The Royal Netherlands Navy has been using CARIS software since 1986. The three-day training course focused on optimizing workflows and deliverables for both civilian and military tasks to optimize workflows and deliverables.
The Royal Netherlands Navy recently extended their use of CARIS software. Vessels HNLMS Snellius and HNLMS Luymes are now equipped with CARIS Bathy DataBASE and CARIS S-57 Composer, which integrates their workflow with those of the Hydrographic Office. Wreck data is read in BASE Editor and is encoded as S-57 objects. These objects are sent to the Hydrographic Office and can be imported directly into the chart production environment for use in navigational products and publications. During military operations the complete Ping-to-Chart workflow is used on board.
