The CARIS HIPS and SIPS team recently celebrated news that the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) has decided to standardize their data processing workflow for their Survey Motor Launches (SML) on CARIS software.
CARIS has been used successfully for several years on the larger RAN survey vessels and this has led to the widespread adoption of HIPS and SIPS on the SMLs. The CARIS solution will replace the legacy systems that are currently being used providing a streamlined workflow for multibeam and side scan processing, giving much improved efficiency.
In recognition of this success the team was treated to an Australian style barbecue which included kangaroo steaks and shrimp skewers. To add to the ambiance of the day, the team enjoyed music from some Aussie favourites including Midnight Oil, Men at Work, Crowded House and Kylie Minogue.
The sale to the RAN included 11 seats of HIPS and SIPS and in addition 11 seats of S-57 Composer, giving the SML’s an in-field electronic charting capability vital for supporting dynamic operations.
