Delegates from the Geospatial Information Agency of Indonesia, Badan Informasi Geospasial (BIG), recently travelled to CARIS headquarters in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada to participate in training on maritime boundary determination and maintenance using CARIS LOTS. The training was arranged after BIG upgraded to the latest version of the software, LOTS 4.1.
The Indonesia archipelago has a number of maritime boundaries with neighbouring countries in the South East Asia region. The continued use of LOTS by BIG will allow the agency to undertake accurate marine spatial planning to maintain the nation's boundaries and contribute to regional cooperation, improved security, and effective resource management.
