CARIS recently visited the Ports of Normandy Authority (PNA) in Ouistreham, France for a training course on CARIS BASE Editor and Engineering Analysis Module. The Ports of Normandy Authority is responsible for the maintenance, dredging preparation and dredging monitoring of the ports of Cherbourg and Caen-Ouistreham. CARIS BASE Editor and Engineering Analysis Module have been brought in to complement the existing workflows at PNA, specifically for multibeam surveys and dredging calculations.
The first week of training was delivered by CARIS BV's Nolwenn Collouard who covered BASE Editor. During the training course CSAR surfaces, TIN models, surface analysis and the creation of contour lines, depth areas and soundings were covered. CARIS' David Brodie conducted the second part of the training on Engineering Analysis Module. The topics included reference model creation, volume computations, conformance analysis and shoal detection.
