CARIS welcomed the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Canada's Minister of National Revenue, Minister of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and Minister for the Atlantic Gateway, to their headquarters last week.
Minister Ashfield's visit to CARIS had been initially arranged following a business development mission to Chile where CARIS' GIS software products had immediately interested Ashfield.
As part of the visit Minister Ashfield, the Member of Parliament for Fredericton, New Brunswick, toured the offices and was impressed with the software development that is taking place.
"It intrigued my interest to get in here and see what was going on. It's a fantastic facility and great work that they are doing here," the minister said. "They are a world-class company," he added.
Mark Masry, research and development manager at CARIS, confirmed that visits of this nature were helpful in boosting the awareness of CARIS' work in the development of world-class GIS software.
"It's very beneficial of him to take the time to come to visit us," Masry said.
