About the Author

Annalisa Gaetani obtained a Bachelor and Master Degree in both Civil Engineering and Architecture in 2008. Since 2015, she has worked as a Hydroacoustic Surveyor in CNR ISMAR Ancona after a long period employed by a civil engineering company.

As a multibeam operator collecting and processing hydroacoustic data, Annalisa is tasked with the assessment of fish stocks, production of bathymetric charts, and backscatter sediment classification.

About the Image

Representation of an Artificial Habitat

The 3D image shows fish assemblage surrounding a gas extraction platform founded in the middle of the Adriatic Sea. Survey datasets collected by Kongsberg EM 3002D Multibeam. Data processing was carried out using CARIS HIPS and SIPS, with the production of a CUBE surface that included additional bathymetry from water column data.
