About the Image

High resolution bathymetry of Portovenere Channel, Ligurian Sea.

Portovenere Channel is situated between the historical town of Portovenere and Palmaria Island. It is part of the Marine Protected Area of "Cinque Terre". The whole area was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997. Views in 2D and 3D show natural seafloor and pipelines.

Data was collected with a Kongsberg EM 3002 and processed with HIPS and SIPS software.
